Traffic Law

There are two kinds of traffic tickets: simple tickets and serious tickets.

The Law Office of Charles H. Huber can help you handle both kinds.

Simple Tickets

A speeding ticket, violating a stop sign, running a traffic light, no proof of insurance; these are garden variety tickets. So are many other moving violations.

The service I provide for these tickets as to "save the points" by getting the ticket amended or reduced to a Non-Moving violation.

The benefit is that you avoid points against your license. Too many points will result in your driving privileges being suspended or revoked.

The ticket may be amended to illegal parking, excessive vehicle noise, loud muffler, or some other designation. Don't worry, none of these will show up on your driving record.

Another benefit is that your insurance will not go up. Only moving violations will cause this to happen.

In exchange for amending your ticket, the Court will charge you a higher fine than if you just pled guilty. This is the trade-off. The Court moves its docket and makes more money, and you save the points.

Serious Tickets

Alcohol offenses, Driving while Suspended or Revoked, Leaving the Scene of an Accident; these are more serious offenses.

These tickets do not get amended. We need to fix the problem, if possible. For driving while suspended ore revoked, I will see if you are eligible for reinstatement. If I can get you reinstated, or get a hardship driving privilege; a good result will usually follow.

Alcohol Offenses (DWI, DUI, and BAC) are even more complex. There will usually be two separate actions against you. There is the actual ticket in the Court, and there is a separate suspension or revocation action from Jefferson City, because of what you blew on the breath test, or because of your refusal to take the breath test.

We will need to decide whether to fight the charge and have a trial, or work out a settlement. Going to trial means all or nothing; you win or lose. The costs for attorney fees are also much more. Making a deal usually means probation, fines, court costs, and attending various programs, which demand your time, money, and aggravation.

The Law Office of Charles H. Huber can provide the help you will need to handle the situation to your best advantage.

Attorney Fees

The Law Office of Charles H. Huber will charge affordable fees, and provide courteous and competent service.

The basic rule is $60.00 for a simple ticket plus $20.00 for each additional simple ticket in the same court, on the same date, up to two days before the court date.

Note: I do NOT charge a fee for seat belt tickets.

The charge for Driving while Suspended or Revoked tickets is generally $250.00 per ticket.

Alcohol offenses start at a minimum of $750.00

The Law Office of Charles H. Huber does offer "package deals" for clients with tickets in multiple courts.

Fines and Court Costs

Once the Law Office of Charles H. Huber has done its job, you will owe the court money. We will send you a letter with the total you owe the Court, and the due date.

What if you don't pay? The Court will issue a warrant for your arrest and revoke any amendment that was worked out. Bad news!
